my new fanfiction  titled …   A  Judy Garland interview …
”I simply can’t believe that in a few minutes I’ll be talking with Miss Judy Garland !”  Vogue magazine editor-at-large, Adrian Wild  anxiously  thought to himself inside the taxi cab that was taking him to Judy Garland’s  London home for an once in a lifetime interview. While looking over his notes and checking his iphone … all he could think about at that moment was his fright  ..just the mere thought of actually being in the same room with a lady that he’s admired for years scared him to death.  It was about 1:00 in the afternoon ..when he arrived at Miss Garland’s residence. After paying his driver, Adrian nervously made his way to the ominous front door. He could feel his heart pounding…as he rang the door’s bell..holding his leather briefcase in his trembling hands. After only three rings, Judy’s housekeeper invited him in..taking his coat and umbrella ..before offering him a seat in the living room. ”Please come in…I’ll tell Miss Garland that you are here.” Adrian politely nodded and  stepped inside the comfortable looking living room ..gently sitting down on one of the room’s lovely mint green English cottage style chairs that were centered around a rather large coffee table..that housed an enormous  pile of sheet music.  As he patiently sat there ..taking out his notepad and camera…Adrian couldn’t help but overhear some classical music softly playing in the distance..unbeknownst to him it was Judy  playing Chopin on her baby grand Steinway in another room. Playing the piano was a  private pleasure that she enjoyed  in the comfort of her own home.
Ten minutes passed by, Adrian was still feeling like needles and pins just waiting for his favorite fashionably late movie queen to appear… while looking down at his watch for the twentieth time…out came Judy Garland…dressed in a  tight black sheath dress with pearls…looking very chic and stylish . Adrian quickly rose from his chair introducing himself , ”Hello Miss Garland.. I’m Adrian Wild …it’s an absolute pleasure to meet you.”  Judy warmly smiled saying, ”I’m pleased to meet you too, Mr. Wild .”  After offering him some tea, Judy pleasantly asked Adrian more about himself ..which completely surprised him ..but that’s just the way Judy is ..always genuinely interested in others that walk into her life.
Adrian Wild:  As I’ve said  before..Miss Garland ..its an absolute pleasure and honor to meet you and  to be granted an opportunity to interview you in your home”
Judy Garland: aww.. It’s a  pleasure to be asked by Vogue …I think your magazine is just marvelous !
Adrian Wild:  So…tell me Miss Garland…how do you like living in  England?
Judy Garland:  I adore it …I love London …I suppose I  fell in love with it  here in England  during my first European concert tour . My English  fans have always been so wonderful to me …following my career…and so forth …I just have always felt their love …they’re just darling people!
Adrian Wild:  It’s interesting to note that it seems like over the years..the Judy Garland phenomenon ( if you will) your fan base has grown larger. How does that make you feel?
Judy Garland:  A phenomenon? (giggles) Oh dear..I don’t know what that really means …. but  I’m very grateful that I have so many wonderful fans out there that not only appreciate my work in show business, but truly love ME …Judy Garland ..the woman behind the camera. And they know I  love them too. I’ve said it before …I’m a woman who wants to reach out and take forty million people in her arms. I’m not sure if it’s anything new ..there has always been a mutual love affair between the audience and myself.
Adrian Wild: What would you say in your lifetime is your greatest accomplishment?
Judy Garland:  My darling children. There is nothing in this world worth more attainable ..than having your children. Liza, Lorna, and Joe are my greatest accomplishment.
.Adrian Wild:   You’ve had one of the longest, most successful movie careers in Hollywood …looking back on those earlier days ..do you have mostly fond memories?
Judy Garland:  Oh good heavens! Of course I do ..I was a very lucky young girl to be given the chance of a lifetime …you know..it was a dream come true for me ..starring in pictures. I made a lot of lifelong friends and just enjoyed my work.  I worked very hard ..but it was very rewarding in a lot of ways…I only wish now I would’ve been stronger as a young woman ..when I was being pushed around by those MGM ”suits” ..you know, I just let them have their way, sorta speak.. about my personal  life…I had no concept of self protection..and eventually it affected my health. .I  just did what I was told to do ..and I damn well knew I was treated as a commodity….but at that time I was owned by the studio…and that was that
Adrian Wild: During your illustrious film career, you had starred with many fine leading men ..which would you say was your favorite ?
Judy Garland:  Oh my goodness .I enjoyed working with so many fine actors… George Murphy, Van Johnson, Fred Astaire..and of course Mickey Rooney. Although I would have to say Gene Kelly was my favorite co-star during my years at MGM…he is irresistible in so many ways. He is a strong actor..terribly talented dancer..I think one of the best musical directors around ..and he acts so tenderly onscreen ..that any girl is just taken by him…..Gene was pretty much my best friend at the studio… always considerate of my feelings when we worked together ..never failed  making me feel relaxed and comfortable on the set…he just is a darling man.
Adrian Wild:  After experiencing stardom in the movies …you chose to perform live on stage ..in  critically acclaimed concerts all over the world.. ….. do you have a favorite concert ?
Judy Garland:   It feels like I’ve been doing concerts for 185 years!  (giggles)  A favorite concert?  No, not really…I’ve had a marvelous time performing  at every concert ..amazingly enough .. there’s a different pulse and vibe to every one of them…and yet the love felt between the audience and myself  is  always the same.
Adrian Wild:  In today’s world, Miss Garland you’re considered one of  Hollywood’s  most glamorous leading ladies of all time ..admired for your refined girl next door style.  How do you define your sense of style?
Judy Garland:   I’ve never considered myself a ”glamour girl” (giggles) …but I’m pleased and terribly flattered  that I would be thought of in that way.. I like pretty clothes ..just like every other woman. Growing up in Hollywood I was  surrounded by glamour ..and I learned very early what the studio was expecting out of a star…  always be well groomed, neatly dressed, and camera perfect . It wasn’t difficult for me because I’m just made up that way. I  suppose my sense of style is pretty much considered today ..Old Hollywood ..although I  despise that dreadful word, OLD ! (giggles)
Adrian Wild:  I have to say, Miss Garland ..it’s been so lovely talking with you …it’s been a great honor to have met you today… and I thank you for the privilege of giving Vogue magazine this interview.
Judy Garland:  It’s my pleasure… aww..you’re very sweet and I’ve enjoyed talking with  you too, darling.
Adrian rose from his chair once again ..but with a new sense of calm …no longer feeling nervous and pretentious ..he held out his strong hand to Judy with a bold smile on his face, saying  ” Cheerio Miss Garland…I hope we can meet again someday.” Judy tenderly kissed him goodbye on the cheek , saying ”Cheerio, darling.”  Adrian blushed ..and made his gentlemanly exit out of Judy Garland’s home…with a song in his heart and an interview of a lifetime !
